My Arendelle Quilt is named after a Scandi Castle in a children’s film. I set out to design a quilt that was Scandinavian in style, but would work as a seasonal or Christmas quilt as well as not be out of place for the rest of the year. I had so much fun designing and making this quilt, it is one of my favourites. This quilt is made up of a selection of processes from patchwork to applique to EPP, there’s lots of blocks and lots of variation. This quilt is designed to work as a grid in which each person can choose to move around their blocks, substitute blocks, build their own quilt design. This class is suitable for confident patchwork and quilters. It is a mixture of hand appliqué and machine or hand sewn patchwork blocks. If you really like hand sewing, you will love this class.
This class will not offer specific tuition on each of the techniques, you need to be familiar with patchwork, and applique and English paper piecing. This is a rich class with lots of blocks to cover, there will be sewing homework between classes, and the schedule is planned to enable you to work on your quilt through the winter months. Each class will address a selection of different blocks as we move through the 9 classes. In class we will introduce each new block design and work on the colour placement of your pieces.
By the end of the course you will have constructed a single bed sized quilt, which will look lovely on a modern bed or look great thrown over the back of a sofa or as a wall hanging for Christmas.
You will need access to a sewing machine, but can chose if you will want to bring it to class, you will need basic sewing supplies and fabric. Full guidance will be given in the class pre-read which will be emailed to you after booking.
