The Arendelle Quilt design was a labour of love! I had been turning over the idea for a scandi inspired quilt for a few months. I knew that I wanted to make something that was wintery without being completely Christmassy. I knew that I wanted to include snowyness and darla horses and fir trees and mushrooms, but the creative spark came when my girls went mad for the Disney film Frozen. While they were enjoying girl power Princesses, in every scene I was seeing inspiration for my quilt design. From the motifs painted on the woodwork in the background of the castle scenes to the scandi snowflakes… I designed the final quilt in a weekend!
I have LOVED teaching this class. It has a little bit of everything from machine piecing to EPP and lots of applique. The design means its very adaptable and you can make all different sized options. The different interpretations that my students have put into their versions of my quilt always leaves me wanting to make another version myself!
This class runs for 9 classes throughout the winter months and everyone who makes it just loves the process. There is lots of fun variety in techniques and so many options in the design and the freedom to mix and match patterns to make your own unique version. If you’ve taken Simple Sampler and are looking for a new challenge then this is the class for you!
